  • Model: Kiddieware
  • Style: Mid-Century Modern
  • Return shipping will be paid by: Buyer

  • Object Type: Plate
  • Condition: This pottery plate would be considered in Fair condition for the age and use of it. It does show some minor age and use wear seen. This does include some small surface scratches and some small chips -- particularly to bottom side edges. There is one in particular that appears to be more visible than the rest. As such, I have tried to show this in one of the pictures, as well. Although there are others, I do feel this represents the most obvious. Even so, considering this plate is likely 70+ years old, I do feel it is doing fairly well with all things considered. Please do view the pics as an extension of the overall isting, too. Please refer to the "Condition" section below for further information.

    DESCRIPTION
: This auction features a vintage Stangl art plate.  The plate is decorated on the front with the image of a little girl gathering flowers.  The colors are mainly pastel, with light blues, light pinks, light greens an a small amount of yellow as the prominent colors.  In researching this piece, I do believe it is likely a part of the "Kiddieware" line that Stangl had -- with what appears to be "Mary, Mary Quite Contrary" as the theme. I will openly note that this is
    not
marked specifically as a "Kiddieware" piece, but could also be an earlier version of it, too. I do believe that the entire scene on the front is likely hand-painted, as well.  The back is marked with the "STANGL" marking in an oval in the center.  There are also two additional marks that might be an artist's marking. The first appears to look a bit like an abstract mountain. The second appears to be etched into the actual pottery (before it was fired), and looks like an elongated "H." This leads me to believe that it could very well be a piece by Kay Hackett.  She was a well-known artist for Stangl for many years -- and also highly respected for her designs.  Even so, I have tried to take pictures of the above markings so that you may judge this for yourself.  It would make a lovely display piece -- particularly for the avid collector of Stangl Pottery. Please do view the pictures as a part of the overall description, as well.  As always, please feel free to message me with any questions you may have, too.

I am considering the age and use when factoring the condition rating
    .

.  There is one in particular that appears to be more visible than the rest. As such, I have tried to show this in one of the pictures, as well.  Although there are others, I do feel this represents the most obvious. The rest of the plate does appear to be doing fairly well. The front coloring and paint is still quite vibrant after all this time, and I do not see any real problems with the front at all. As it would obviously be the front side that is displayed, that is clearly a good thing.  Considering this plate is likely 70+ years old, I do feel it is doing ok with all things considered. I would ask that  the picturess are viewed as an extension of the overall isting, too.
If there is anything I may have missed where the condition is concerned, please feel free to message me and I'll be happy to help. With age and use considered, I would still say this piece rates in Fair condition overall.
AGE/YEAR MADE: I believe this plate dates between the 1930s-1950s.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION: PLEASE READ!
    **
    ~ GENERAL ~
*** I do my very best to accurately describe the items I sell her on eBay; listing their imperfections as much as their attributes. I always note flaws so there are no surprises when an item is received. The items I offer are nearly always used, though, and therefore are not in, "mint" condition. In fact, I never use the word mint to describe an item. With that said, please do not misunderstand my sometimes low opening bids. They almost never truly reflect the actual value of any item. In fact, they are priced in such a way because I like to keep with the fun and excitement of an actual auction.
    ~ PAYMENT & SHIPPING ~
*** I kindly ask that payment for purchase(s) be made within 5 days of the close of the auction. Occasionally, I will offer a "Buy It Now" option: in those cases, payment is due as soon as the "Purchase Now" button is chosen. An automatic NPB (Non-Paying Bidder) notification will be sent after the 5th day if payment is not received. Paypal is currently the only form of payment I accept. I am more than happy to combine shipping on items, please just contact me prior to the auction's end. I can then send a combined invoice which will save you some money and me some time! :) Where shipping is concerned, I do my very best to ship items within 1-2 business day after payment is received.
    ~ PURCHASES & RETURNS ~
*** I strive to make your buying experience with me as excellent as I can. With that said, please contact me if you are unhappy! I will do everything possible to correct the problem. On nearly all of my items, if you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you are welcome to return it for a full refund within two weeks (14 days) from the day it was received. Return shipping will be paid by the buyer, though. In certain cases, I may sell an item for a close friend of family member that does not belong to me. Those are usually the only instances that I do not allow returns. I figure, if the item does not belong to me, I should allow that decision to be made by the person who does own it.
~ SORRY, I NO LONGER SHIP INTERNATIONALLY! ~
